Take-up and Pay-off Stands Frequently
Asked Questions
We've listed answers to some of our most common Take-up and
Pay-off Stand questions for your convenience.
Why do you describe your Take-up and Payoff Stands
as Roll-on, Roll-off?
Our easy-loading Take-up and Payoff stands eliminate the
need for lifting equipment. One person can easily load or
unload reels manually by rolling them into place
over the beveled edge. No more waiting for fork lifts, cranes
or hoists.
How are your Take-up stands different from other
models?
Huestis Industrial Arbor-type Take-up stands are practical,
sturdy, adjustable and economical. The design automatically
permits floor clearance. Reel diameters from 16 to 50
can be accommodated with a quick adjustment. Traverse is also
adjustable over the full width of the reel: oscillating traverse
is available.
Our over-all design is simple and rugged, assuring minimal
maintenance and trouble-free operation. A dependable hardened
steel gear drive is built for long, hard service. When reels
are changed, the drive automatically disconnects.
Can custom specifications be accommodated?
Drive and control systems are custom-specified for each application.
Control systems can be tailored to meet specific application
needs. These include constant tension and/or constant speed,
dynamic braking, and rapid acceleration-deceleration.
What differentiates your Payoff stands from other
models?
Our rugged Payoff stands are adjustable and easy to load.
They can be adjusted almost instantly for different reel diameters
and widths. This means that costly time spent changing stands
is often eliminated. There's no more jacking up or lost jacks,
and no more time lost looking for a makeshift reel drag. One
person can easily load or unload reels manually by rolling
them into place over the beveled edge. No more waiting for
fork lifts, cranes or hoists.
The design automatically permits floor clearance. Huestis
Industrial Payoff stands also feature a simple, proven mechanical
brake that applies back tension, eliminating the payoff pulsation
that causes cable rejects. For custom applications, electric
or pneumatic brakes can be supplied.
Other than the traverse version, are there other
Payoff models available?
Other models are also available including a powered version
required for many production applications.
A roll-around or portable Payoff is also available for temporary
setups, or when an extra stand or filler is needed. With its
ball-bearing casters, it is easily placed behind extruders,
twisters, paring units or braiders. A lever raises the casters
so that the stand sits flat: when the job is done, it is easily
returned to storage.
Models that occupy less than half the space of standard Payoff
stands are also available for plants where space is limited.
What are some typical applications for your Take-up
and Pay-offs?
Wire drawing, extrusion, respooling, testing and inspection.
Bare wire(flat or round), insulated wire(flat or round), wire
rope, tubing, or any other coilable material.
Why do I need to fill out an Application
Data Sheet"?
Our specifications are broad guidelines. Any stand can be
customized, enabling it , for example, to accept wider reels
or to run at any required process speeds. Please consult us
about your special needs. Our engineers will review each order
before filling it to assure that it meets your requirements.
