AIR WIPE SIZING
FOR INCREASED WIRE DRYING EFFICIENCY

RI — Huestis Industrial has introduced three new precision
tolerance Air Miser™
air wipe sizes to ensure maximum wire drying efficiency, performance,
and economy.
The company's refined line now includes models with 1/16”,
5/16” and 7/16” openings to provide closer sizing
tolerances over its entire product range. These tighter sizing
tolerances, based on extensive in-house testing and development,
are designed to match increasingly higher process speeds and
quality requirements in various drying applications. Huestis
Industrial's comprehensive product offering maximizes drying
power and minimizes air consumption to properly match air
wipe models to any given size product.
A new product-centering device has also been developed to
complement the tighter sizing tolerances. Fully adjustable,
this mechanical centering guide reduces oscillation and provides
consistent guiding to maintain proper clearance between the
product being dried and the wall of the air wipe. This critical
clearance ensures proper airflow and prevents premature air
wipe wear.
Air Miser™ air wipes use highly controlled airflow to
save air, reduce noise and dramatically cut energy consumption
in wire drying applications. This versatile system dries wire,
cable, plastic, tubing, strip, extrusions, or any material
produced on a line process after cooling immersion or other
treatment.
Air Miser™ also ensures proper and accurate inspection,
testing, printing, packaging and storage. This highly efficient
design is based on the maximization of controlled, properly
directed airflow. A Venturi effect is also created further
increasing airflow. Huestis Industrial's Air Miser uses much
less air than an open line, other adjustable models, or various
homemade wipers.
Very economical, Air Miser™ air wipes significantly
cut operating costs vs. adjustable air wipes or centrifugal
blowers. Air Miser™ uses approximately .016 m3/
min. per air jet at 2.8 bar (.56 SCFM at 40 PSI). The extremely
quiet, low airflow design also provides a measurable decrease
in noise level output producing only 75 dB at 3.5 bar (50
PSI). Huestis also offers the SoundBarrier™ sound and
liquid containment system to reduce noise levels even further.
Properly sized tolerances dry various products better
than adjustable models. Product alignment is
also an important consideration. Material will not dry properly
if it is allowed to touch the wall of the Air Wipe.
