- Economical
drying by controlled-airflow air wipes
By Joseph F. Snee (.pdf file, 28 K)
This paper will discuss the drying of extruded products
by use of air wipes which operate on the principle of controlled
air flow. These air wipes, which use compressed air, are
compared to other types of drying apparatus with respect
to energy costs and the savings to be derived.
- Reclamation
of cable conductors for re-jacketing
By Joseph F. Snee (.pdf file, 76 K)
This paper will discuss the savings, which can be realized
by being able to remove defective cable jackets, without
damage to the interior core and thus be in a position to
re-jacket the product. In so doing, the manufacturer will
avoid wasting materials and labor used to produce the conductor.
Secondary applications include upgrade of scrap for reclamation
and removal of curing jackets.
- Specifying
spoolers
By James F. Bryant (.pdf file, 40 K)
This paper will discuss considerations in choosing an efficient
and cost-effective spooling system that is properly outfitted
and sized to the application. Cost, spool size, speed, tension
and other variables that effect machine operation and efficiency
will be discussed in detail. Specialized product applications
for inspection, flaw detection and quality control are presented
to address various process requirements.
- Selecting
a tube bending machine
By Terry Chwalk (.pdf file, 56 K)
This paper will discuss important considerations in choosing
a CNC tube bending machine. Material configurations, programming
issues, tooling and capability issues, and maintenance and
repeatability factors are addressed in detail. Specific
features and advantages of Huestis Industrial's range of
tube bending machines is presented with applied applications
that depict various machine capabilities.
